What Story Locker is
Story Locker lets you record video interviews about your life and keep them in a private locker tied to your Google account. This page explains what we store and what we do with it.
What we collect
- Your Google account basics. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and profile picture. We use them to create your locker and show who is signed in. We do not receive your Google password and we do not access your Gmail, Drive, contacts or anything else in your Google account.
- Your recordings. The videos you choose to save, a still image used as the album thumbnail, the date and length of each recording, and, for AI interviews, a text transcript of the conversation.
- Technical basics. Our server keeps ordinary request logs (such as IP address and time) for security and to stop abuse of the AI features.
How the AI interview works
During an AI interview your spoken answers are turned into text, and that text is sent to Anthropic (Claude) to write the interviewer’s next line. The interviewer’s lines are sent to ElevenLabs to be turned into speech. In browsers without built-in speech recognition, short audio clips of your answers are sent to ElevenLabs for transcription. These providers process that data to provide the service and do not receive your name or email from us.
Who can see your recordings
Only you, when signed in to your Google account. Recordings are not public, are not shared with other users, and are not used to train any AI model.
Where it is stored
Recordings and your locker are stored on our server. Recordings made before you sign in are held only in your own browser until you sign in and save them.
Deleting your data
You can delete any recording from your locker at any time, which removes the video, thumbnail and transcript from our server. To delete your whole locker and account details, email the address below and we will do it.
